we are
espoir is a team made up of 4 Secondary 3 students from Nanyang Girls’ High School. espoir (‘espuah’) is hope in French, one which we aim to bring forth in Youth for Causes. espoir aims to promote awareness of the muscular condition – muscular dystrophy. Espoir also aims to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore) MDAS to provide treatment for Muscular Dystrophy patients.
Our event is a fun run to be held in Hwa Chong Institution. Guests such as local celebrities and Singapore sportsmen (eg. swimmer Yip Pin Xiu who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy) would be invited to host and participate in the event. We plan for the event to be 8 hour long; from 10a.m to 6p.m. Ongoing activities such as live performances, lucky draws and sales of food will keep the energy going throughout the entire event. Funds will also be raised via sales of merchandise and sponsorships.

Hello everyone ! It's time for updates, and our event is just round the corner!
Venue : *Scape Youth Park (nearest mrt Somerset) Date/day : 23rd August 2009, Sunday. Time: 9.45 am - 6pm
This event would be a fun fair cum performances to be held at *Scape youth park, and the event is planned to be 8 hours long. There would be ongoing activities, ranging from dances, to local band talents performing such as Actdeux, Shefallsasleep, Tacit Aria etc. Additionally, there would be a special chairty activity, heart2heart, held at the same time, where 10,000 signed stickers signed by the public are to be stuck onto a large banner outlining the shape of the wheelchair, to symbolize the support from you guys to the Muscular Dystriphy Association(Singapore).
So please do come down and support our event, and we would greatly appreciate your presence. Do join in the fun ! Remember, 23rd august 2009, Sunday @ *scape youth park ! Bring your friends along and bask in the fun, music and atmosphere !
Additionally, we need volunteers to work manpower for our event. Please volunteer yourself if you are keen , and you could get some friends to volunteer with you too ! Please submit your appliations in this format to espoir.yfc@gmail.com :

Coming up next is WHEELPOWER - the funfair cum carnival with ongoing entertainment (including 4 professional bands, 2 dance groups and a magician!) WHEELPOWER will be held on the 23rd August, Sunday 10am - 6pm at *SCAPE Youth Park, 113 Somerset Road, Singapore 238165. Do come down to support us our be a volunteer at our event!
To be a volunteer, all you have to do is email us your Name, NRIC, and your ideal shift choice (1oam-2pm, 2pm -6pm), CIP hours will be awarded accordingly.

Profile
The non-profit organisation that we are working with is Muscular Dystrophy Association Singapore. The Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore), MDAS, is a self-help organisation formed in March 2000. It is committed to uplift the lives of people with Muscular Dystrophy.
Muscular Dystrophy is the name given to a large group of muscle diseases characterised by the development of muscle weakness, wasting and contractures, that are usually progressive and sometimes life threatening. These diseases often manifest in childhood, although some begin in adulthood. Most, if not all, are caused by a large variety of inherited gene abnormalities. At present, there is no cure for Muscular Dystrophy.
